[Information] Measures against tsunami debris using Thai materials and anchors
Proposals from SE for Earthquake and Tsunami Measures
The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011, not only caused damage from the tsunami itself but also raised concerns about the damage caused by drifting debris such as ships, vehicles, containers, wood, and furniture, as well as the decline in logistics and human flow functions. Numerous instances of the movement and collapse of hazardous material storage tanks, such as those for oil, were confirmed, and at the boundary between flooded and non-flooded areas, fires in buildings caused by drifting debris occurred, leading to secondary disasters. This document presents proposals from SE, which is engaged in environmental disaster prevention projects, for measures against tsunami debris using timber and anchors, including the utilization of tsunami evacuation platforms and reinforcement of hazardous material storage tanks.
